Jaap Blonk

This video presents excerpts of the "Messa di Voce". Messa di Voce is an audiovisual performance and installation which augments the speech, shouts and songs produced by vocalists Jaap Blonk and Joan La Barbara with real-time interactive visualizations.

Custom software transforms every vocal nuance into correspondingly complex, subtly differentiated and highly expressive graphics. This performance is designed to provoke questions about the meaning and effects of speech sounds, speech acts, and the immersive environment of language.

"Messa di Voce" has been shown Monday 23th February at the Theatre Frederick Loewe in New-York.

:MLZD

pictures by Dominique Marc Wehrli

:mlzd is an architecture studio based in Bienne (Switzerland). In 2002, they won the project for the extension of the Wettingen School which consist to built a new cafeteria while respecting the existing building.

The old cafeteria of the Wettingen School was too small, due to constantly raising pupil number. :mlzd projected the new cafeteria according to the typology of the existing buildings.

The building envelope, composed of a homogeneous coverage of black anodized aluminum sheets, plays with the light that seeps between the silhouettes of the flowers and leafs cutout of the aluminum sheets. The new cafeteria has a rural character and part of a the conceptual and formal analogy with the traditional farm, which makes the volume, types and structural features of the interior space.

Christelle Bonnet is a young graphic designer and artist from Bordeaux, France. I really like the way how she exposes the deterioration of ink on paper, modifies the process of certain processes of printing works...a poetic work!
