Ahndraya Parlato

Into everyday settings, photographer AHNDRAYA PARLATO inserts a grain of discomfort whose resultant tension wears over time and in turn makes repeated viewings of her work a new revelation. She plays with reality and creates a world divorced from any order of logic.

"I very consciously work at creating a body of work that is thematically & conceptually cohesive rather than say, uses one subject matter as the premise for an entire series. (...) for me, making photographs is also an act of exploring, so I may have ideas I want to work on, but I don’t know exactly what it is I’m looking for – if I did, I feel like to a certain extent, there would be no point in making the images. Subsequently, I tend to be interested in more expansive bodies of work – or ones that although conceptually or thematically unified, might allow for a certain diversity or range within subject matter; I am thinking of artists like Jeff Wall, Collier. Schorr and Wolfgang Tillmans." - AHNDRAYA PARLATO for SiouxWIRE

Born in Kailua, Hawaii in 1979, she received a B.A. from Bard College and went on to graduate from the California College of Arts with an M.F.A. where she returned to lecture. She now teaches at Ithaca College in New York state.

Marc Philbert

French photographer MARC PHILBERT has shot some beautiful beauty and fashion editorials as well as super sexy advertising campaigns. His works are sometimes subtle, sometimes over-the-top, always stunning. And I specially like
the concept of using the human body as a canvas for projection.

You can see that amazing shot and more at marcphilbert.com

Hello Spring

LUCAS LASNIER
aka PARBO is an artist from Argentina. His new collection, titled Girls and Roses is just excellent!

And he says: “Girls and Roses express what they are and want to be: freedom, pleasure and the future.”

LUCAS LASNIER and ANDRÉS BONAVERA, both graphic designers and illustrators, are the founder of KID GAUCHO, a good way to express their ideas in several languages (illustrations, painting, animation, calligraphy) by using several support resources (walls, animations, web, fabrics).

MATHEW CERLETTY's contribution for "8 1/2 x 11 / A4" at James Fuentes LLC. 2008

New York based MATHEW CERLETTY was known for his hauntingly seductive figure paintings of friends and family members, executed in bright, bold colors. But in the last few years he went in a completely different direction, creating strangely confrontational sign and word pieces.

André Azevedo

Hiiii...How did your Christmas go? Too much food?...but I hope you've saved room for WFW;-) Well, why not begin today with the excellent work by Brazilian artist ANDRÉ AZEVEDO? Enjoy!

Ingri Haraldsen

"When I was a child, my mum kept all of our drawings in different folders. My sisters filled up one folder each with their drawings. I filled up two or three and they were big, not the small ones you buy, but the really really big ones!"

Welcome in the surrealist world of Norvegian artist INGRI HARALDSEN

Holy Fuck. Royal Gregory

HOLY FUCK- Royal Gregory

Created by MIRRORSHADE, the video for the track Royal Gregory by HOLY FUCK is like a super-retro intergalactic boxing video game.

The idea was born almost immediately when we sat down with a track. We were really into the simple visual idea of retro tournament game graphics. Good vs Bad. We wanted the narrative to be very straightforward so that we could make the visuals abstract. “I personally love full-on, bold colours in my work so we decided to do something almost painfully intense to watch with our crazy palette of colours. We then started to think about the animation style. We loved to do something ‘digitally well crafted’ but maintain the simplicity and roughness in treatment. Therefore the movements of the characters, their facial expressions, lighting and camerawork also had to be toned down and minimal.

We spent a week storyboarding each scene, and moved on to design all the characters and environment. It was a long and painstaking process but we loved every minute of it. It took 4-5 weeks to animate the whole video

And it's so good that I can't resist to publish the winter demo reel from MIRRORSHADE (below)

Here are some truly exceptional oil paintings by JEREMY GEDDES. Based in Melbourne, he spends his time creating photo realistic paintings and he has also done covers for several issues of IDW Publishing’s Star Trek: The Next Generation
.My favorite series feature a lost cosmonaut in urban settings. ENJOY:

" The cosmonaut paintings are a step away from my old method of painting, where every element was strictly controlled to enforce a particular narrative. I found that controlling the structure too tightly limited the stories that the viewer could bring to it. With these paintings I’m trying to leave the narrative ambiguous and open to interpretation, whilst juxtaposing enough disparate elements to make some sort of interpretation necessary. I’m keen to never give enough clues to block any potential explanation the viewer might bring. I want to spark questions, rather than answer them."

+ the good news is that you can purchase signed and numbered prints via his website

Takahiro Kimura

BORN to BONE from TAKAHIRO KIMURA

TAKAHIRO KIMURA is a Japanese animator, illustrator and character designer. He like to deconstruct and reconstruct the human face creating a whole new visage with an unforgettable impact.

Since 2001, TAKAHIRO KIMURA has evolved his interest in faces, producing animation series which breathed new life into the hallucinatory, constantly mutating movements that emerge out of a single drawing.
