PIETER VERMEERSCH is not an abstract painter as such but rather an image maker. Time, space and colour are the elementary building blocks with which he creates his universe: it is the viewer who, through the physical act of looking, combines the different elements and, more importantly, combines with them!

Always working site-specificially, VERMEERSCH is influenced by and incorporates moveable supports such as painting on canvas or photography. Most often, he will paint directly on the walls, doors or windows of a given space, seeking to bring the viewer or passer-by into a closer engagement with their environment.

Pieter Vermeersch was born in Kortrijk, Belgium in 1973. He lives and works in Brussels
