Mutti & Architetti

This house on the roof of the ex-Faema factory office block in Milano has been created by GIANLUIGI MUTTI, PIERA PATERA and MARILENA MAGALOTTI from the architecture studio MUTTI & ARCHITETTI. This house is just a dream (a big dream!)

At a height of 28 metres, raised from the ground level of the city, the house in envisaged as a rooftop shelter that opens onto the garden with its swimming pool, solarium and olive trees.

The whole structure is designed to breathe and live with the changing of the season and temperatures. The outerskin in plasticised canvas (of the kind used to protect truck trailers) is slightly detached from the inner framework of metal beams which are "drowned" in the wood brick facing.

Every room in the house is an independant unit and the passage are distinct and clearly defined.

You can find more images at the M&A website, or you can buy the DOMUS #913 (April) or you can also buy IdealesHEIM of this month (#4, 2009). Of course, if you want to share your pictures of this fabulous house, you are welcome!
